Go out into the world with passion and love for what you do, never give up. I am untouchable because of the strength and inspiration I get from my birds. 🦅
The gulls aren’t very happy with us. Not long and they will have completely cleared 🦅
She’s just so bloody beautiful 😍
It’s finally Friday! I’ve been spending some quality time with Zola 😍 What’s everyone doing with their weekend?
Doesn’t Meeko look fancy in his new braided jesses from @shebarbary? Chuffed to bits with them.
Good morning! The sun is shining but it’s cold! We’re grateful that the wind and rain has held off so we can have our morning fly ☀️
My perfect little Meeko chilling with his chicken leg. He’s very brave on site with all of the moving lorries and machinery, especially for such a tiny thing 🙈
Back to work after a very busy weekend! It’s windy and rainy today so we’re not flying. As Gypsy starts to feel full, she plucks the feathers because they’re not nutritional, making sure she has space for the meat. In the wild, meals can be few and far between, so it’s important that they make the most of every meal.
Look at my handsome lad, Freddie, in his new gear from @a_clarke_falconry 😍
Back in the office. I love my routine so I’m kinda happy Christmas is over, we’re going to work harder than ever in 2019! I hope work is going okay for those of you who are back today!
Thank you to @martinelstob for this beautiful shot of Piper, my Barn Owl 😍
2018 has been one of the most life changing for me. I’ve made some huge decisions in both my personal and professional life and it’s crazy to think how different things were just a year ago. I’ve had this Instagram account for 6 months now and met some amazing people that I will never forget and who inspire me daily. How could I go into a new year without expressing my love and respect for every bird in my team? I bloody love em! Me and Gypsy have been for a fly this morning and once again she reminded me of my purpose, the reason I get out of bed every day and why I love my life. I’m so excited to see what 2019 brings, I imagine it will be full of positivity and opportunity and I wish every one of you a happy new year ❤️
Disclaimer- this is probably the most boring thing you will watch today. Nevertheless, I thought it would be cool to demonstrate how feathers are designed. They’re made up of thousands of barbs that can be pulled apart and brushed back together, a bit like Velcro. When preening, birds are aligning these barbs, removing dirt and coating their feathers with a waterproofing oil.
Who needs bunches of flowers? Made from a few things I found around the house and garden 🤓
Zola may look unimpressed, but her ear tufts say otherwise. Owls will lay their ear tufts flat against their head if they’re in a bad mood or feeling uncomfortable. Maybe she knows dinner is on the way...
Straight back to work for us! Harris Hawks are very versatile, they can be taught numerous commands and tricks. Freddie makes it look easy 🦅
