The last basket of quinces on the kitchen bench for the year, some are now in the dehydrator and some are roasting with honey and quince tea. It’s been a weekend of restocking the wood pile on the veranda, cleaning the guinea pig hutches, hen houses and duck houses. Of sorting the freezers and relabelling the freezer drawers. Making big batches of crumble topping, chickpeas, minestrone & red lentil curry, chopping up sweet potatoes, pumpkin and onions for roasting mid week, making fruit loaves, all for restocking the freezers. Baking a sour cream and cherry cake for the work lunchbox. A big clean out of the fridge and pantry shelves, planting winter greens and shifting herbs into the hot house. It’s a family effort, we all do what we can, so much of it I couldn’t do by myself now but we are a team and the more organised we are the easier it is.
