So, after almost 8 years, we decided to get married. We have been planning this since January. We didn’t want a big deal made so we only told our immediate family and some other people we thought should know. He wanted to go to the justice of the peace at the time but it was a big deal for me for my dad to walk me down the “aisle”. We had already planned a trip to Colorado to visit my parents, but figured since Durango was one of our happy places, that it would be the perfect setting. Not only did our happy place seal the deal, it brought together our parents, with his dad meeting my parents for the first time, and I have to say I have had the best time with everyone the last few days. My long time best friend Alma introduced us back in 2009. My dream was to have her marry us. She made that dream happen (without hesitation) by flying out from California. Not only did she make the trip, but she nailed the ceremony. It was beautiful. His parents and oldest sister were also present. It was important to us to have both sets of parents there. Rachel, his sister, has been like a second mom to Nate. Im so glad they could all make it. Rebecca and Rob, Julia and Matt, and my brother, Matt, thank you for wanting to be there but know you were in our hearts and on our minds as we all became one family. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect place, people and love. It was everything we ever wanted aside from not caring about getting married. Once we made the decision, this is how we wanted to do it. Thanks to all of our friends and family’s support throughout the years. The ride has and will continue to be wonderful with my best friend.
