#TBT ☺️ This is 7 year old Charles, having just moved from Taiwan 🇹🇼 optimistic, excited, curious, yet scared of what’s to come. Learning English as my second language, learning to communicate with other kids in the playground at school not knowing the language. Yes I got bullied for speaking with an accent, and even sent home from school because I was not speaking in school. I was quiet, always very observant as I wanted to understand the American culture. I struggled with finding my own identity as a Asian American, and always felt like a minority. My single mom raised me and my older sister while working a full time job. I watched my mom navigate through life with grace, compassion, and never giving up. She channeled her inner super hero ( alter ego) always putting us first, making sure we had the best education, put us into art classes, basketball, piano, dance, theatre and supported us every way she could. I am so grateful for my parents, I am so grateful for the lessons. The good and also the challenges made me who I am. I honor everyone who comes to America with a dream, a dream of one day getting a piece of that American pie. Everyday thousands of immigrants come to America in hopes of a better future for their kids and family. If you live in America today I ask that you count your blessings, yes I understand there are lots of things in the world we can not control but there is also so much we can do. We can show up in the greatest versions of ourselves to make a difference in the world. There are kids in third world countries with no access to water, shelter, clothing, food and we have it so good. Please don’t get caught up in our own little bubble we forget that as a society we have a responsibility to do good with our resources, to uplift humanity with our work. We have so much to give, let’s not complain about stupid shit like traffic, the weather, and who’s president. Let’s use our voice and our actions for something greater than ourselves. Let’s each individually do our part to make this world a better place. I know we can do better. Let’s unite, and step up to the plate ❤️ I believe in humanity ✨ I believe in LOVE 🥰 TAG a friend

One of the most heartbreaking things that I see leading Impact! Ministries is the lasting effects of homelessness caused by addiction and mental illness. So many times it manifests itself in extreme hoarding and unbelievable filth. The team finds homeless camps filled with piles of trash, discarded items from dumpsters, used food containers, human waste, dirty needles and soiled bedding. The smell is atrocious and clean up takes days! It is easy to get overwhelmed emotionally seeing people chose to live like that when treatment and solutions are freely available. . Cleaning up abandoned homeless camps is one the most costly things we do at Impact! Ministries. While we need plenty of specially trained volunteers, cleaning up each abandoned camp costs around $100-$200 dollars. Hazmat-grade supplies much be purchased. Layers of topsoil must be removed and properly disposed of. Trash must be hauled to a special county dump site. Environmental clean up fees must be paid in special circumstances. This is an area of ministry that we rely solely on the generous financial contributions of our donors to provide for. #TBT ☺️ This is 7 year old Charles, having just moved from Taiwan 🇹🇼 optimistic, excited, curious, yet scared of what’s to come. Learning English as my second language, learning to communicate with other kids in the playground at school not knowing the language. Yes I got bullied for speaking with an accent, and even sent home from school because I was not speaking in school. I was quiet, always very observant as I wanted to understand the American culture. I struggled with finding my own identity as a Asian American, and always felt like a minority. My single mom raised me and my older sister while working a full time job. I watched my mom navigate through life with grace, compassion, and never giving up. She channeled her inner super hero ( alter ego) always putting us first, making sure we had the best education, put us into art classes, basketball, piano, dance, theatre and supported us every way she could. I am so grateful for my parents, I am so grateful for the lessons. The good and also the challenges made me who I am. I honor everyone who comes to America with a dream, a dream of one day getting a piece of that American pie. Everyday thousands of immigrants come to America in hopes of a better future for their kids and family. If you live in America today I ask that you count your blessings, yes I understand there are lots of things in the world we can not control but there is also so much we can do. We can show up in the greatest versions of ourselves to make a difference in the world. There are kids in third world countries with no access to water, shelter, clothing, food and we have it so good. Please don’t get caught up in our own little bubble we forget that as a society we have a responsibility to do good with our resources, to uplift humanity with our work. We have so much to give, let’s not complain about stupid shit like traffic, the weather, and who’s president. Let’s use our voice and our actions for something greater than ourselves. Let’s each individually do our part to make this world a better place. I know we can do better. Let’s unite, and step up to the plate ❤️ I believe in humanity ✨ I believe in LOVE 🥰 TAG a friend

Kristalina Georgieva, CEO of the World Bank CEO, will assume the role of interim President, from 1 February. In a statement, Mr. Kim said that “It has been a great honour to serve as President of this remarkable institution, full of passionate individuals dedicated to the mission of ending extreme poverty in our lifetime. The work of the World Bank Group is more important now than ever as the aspirations of the poor rise all over the world, and problems like climate change, pandemics, famine and refugees continue to grow in both their scale and complexity.” During his term, which began in July 2012, President Kim emphasized that one of the greatest needs in the developing world was more international funding for infrastructure, and he pushed the World Bank to work with private sector partners committed to building sustainable, climate-smart infrastructure in developing countries. Under Mr. Kim’s leadership, the World Bank provided financing at levels never seen outside of a financial crisis and set two goals for the bank: to end extreme poverty by 2030, and to boost shared prosperity, focusing on the bottom 40 percent of the population in developing countries.
