Metaphysical and psychic phenomena have long existed on the fringes of conventional science and academia. ESP, Clairvoyance, Telekinesis and Astral traveling have all been relegated to the back seat of mainstream, accepted belief systems in spite of an extensive mention of these practices down the ages, across myriad cultures. It has always been challenging for practitioners of the science to be validated by the prevailing status quo.

Stargate is the code name for an army unit established at Fort Meade, Maryland in 1978. The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and SRI Intl set up the unit to investigate the potential for using psychic phenomena in military intelligence. There were various other projects closely related; Gondola Wish, Grill Flame, Center Lane, Sunstreak, and Scantate, all became Stargate Project.

#Myths talk to our #psyche (the Greek term for #soul) in its own language i.e. the myth of Cupid and Psyche is the #story of Love and Soul. Myth is psyche in its own disguise; a way psyche can be seen. Myths help provide us with images of psyche speaking itself and shine the light on our own experiences.

Myths are carriers of values and each of us find #value and #meaning in what we organise our lives around. Psyche is our field of awareness, mediating our perception of the world. And the psyche is deeply entangled in myth.

Myths move us from the conceptual to the experiential. They provide a larger container for our experiences and there are many characters and there’s room for them all. Our internal contradictions need not tear us apart. We don’t go to myths for THE answer singular, but for #wisdom and a #deeper #universal #insight that we can’t easily access when we’re in our own personal despair.

Myths belong to our #ancestors but to tap into the #archetypal realm we need to experience them in fresh, new ways. So how do we understand ourselves as reflected by the gods and goddesses in these myths? One way is by having #imaginative encounters with these #mythic figures where we can translate our #emotions into #images i.e. my despair feels like Demeter’s, my shock like Persephone’s, this task feels Sisyphean. We can perceive a mythic figure as a #pattern of #behaviour that’s trying to speak to us.

Viewing the world #archetypally, #mythically and #symbolically can help us vessel our deeper #psychological experiences. We engage myths to perceive certain movements in our psyches, but there aren’t always answers. In #mythology our suffering and #destiny can be mirrored back to us in an #authentic way.

In this 1-hour workshop Kristina will explore how to be with the #beauty, wisdom, #nobility, #grace and #mystery of the myths that appear in our #Constellation work.

A Twitter analysis by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed that people were terrified when they were alerted that a ballistic missile was hurtling toward Hawaii. But when they learned that the alert was actually a false alarm, they were livid.
It’s something that people watching social media would have already guessed, but this analysis could help emergency management agencies send better alerts in the future. (Step 1: Don’t send false alarms about nuclear missiles.) The communications disaster unfolded last January when a series of major mistakes sent a terrifying alert to the phones and televisions of Hawaii’s residents. It said a ballistic missile was on its way to the islands, and people needed to seek shelter. It took a full 38 minutes for the alarm to be retracted, during which time people posted on Twitter in droves. “GET INSIDE, STAY INSIDE, AND STAY TUNED.” One of the key themes that emerged in the aftermath was that some people didn’t know what to do during a ballistic missile attack, according to the new CDC paper published in theMorbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. The findings tell public health officials that social media is a good place to reach people during a crisis, and future emergency alerts need to have clear instructions for what people should do. In a radiation emergency like a nuclear missile attack, those instructions are to “get inside, stay inside, and stay tuned,” according to the CDC. Of course, that doesn’t help prevent false alarms, but that’s another story.

In today’s study, the researchers searched for tweets — or, as they helpfully explain, “(Twitter postings)” — from the morning of the false alarm. The team specifically looked for tweets containing the words “missile and Hawaii,” “ballistic,” “shelter,” “drill,” “threat,” “alert,” or “alarm.” They ended up with more than 127,000 tweets. Of those, most were retweets and quote tweets, which they excluded to keep the information to a manageable amount.

SELF ACTUALISATION

Driving around Cairo today in the hectic traffic, I was fascinated by the many modes transport around us. From huge buses, to Tuk Tuks crammed with 6 people, donkeys leading wooden carts laden with cabbage, bananas; bulls, horses, bikes and millions of old cars. A mix of old and new, chaotically coexisting.
I think this is really how we all live, just in different ways depending on where we call home. A diverse and rich tapestry of humans coexisting and surviving, hopefully thriving.

This brings to mind Maslow's triangle, where he hypothesized that to potentialise and evolve into our best or self actualised self, we need to firstly have our basic survival needs met - food, shelter, water etc. When we have to struggle for these basic human needs, there is little time or money for personal enrichment or growth.
We are very lucky in Australia, as the majority of people have a good standard of living, access to education and a plethora of career opportunities. Worth thinking about.
