#mizoram has asked the central government not to reintroduce the #citizenship_amendment_bill in any form in the future. The Mizoram state assembly has adopted a resolution asking the government not to reintroduce the bill that aims for granting citizenship to religious minorities migrated from #pakistan , #afghanistan , and #bangladesh . Mizoram Home Minister #lalchamliana has said after moving the #resolution that the #civil_societies , churches, political parties and the people of the state, as well as the northeastern region, are against the bill. He said that the Mizoram cabinet had also opposed the bill on January 10. Zodintluanga of the Congress party, who is the Leader of Opposition, has supported the resolution and asked the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) to break its relationship with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Congress president Rahul Gandhi yesterday has also promised to scrap the bill if voted to power in the state. He said this during the launch of his party’s campaign for the upcoming #lok_sabha and assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh. The Chief Minister of Mizoram #zoramthanga has also attended a meeting of political parties of the Northeastern region on January 29 in which the chief ministers of the regional states and other leaders opposed the #bill . He had informed Prime Minister #narendramodi and the Home Minister Mr. #rajnathsingh about the bill that it is opposed by the people of Mizoram and the state government.
