Learning to rig..haha
Learning to rig..haha
Well I've posted pictures of both other dogs, better not leave Ayla out.
The look of cool calm experience. Been there done that. Cam.
Next goal is teach the pups to rig a track, or atleast give them more opportunity.
Jon Oreilly's first black video has been finished and uploaded to our youtube channel! Check it out via the link in bio. If you watch the video you'll get an answer as to why his hand is bandaged up haha
This is a new and interesting way they're going to try to tackle the issue of poachers in Africa. HOUNDS, I like it. Find it on our facebook page to watch the video.
Waking up to this makes you happy to be alive!
Only 53 days until bear opens again and we can get after it? We ready.
A few weeks ago when we were just about to start packing out my bear!
Taught both of the pups how to load into the truck on their own today!
Sam and Cam treeing hard!
Heres a picture of the second bear the dogs treed on our trip. They treed it twice, this being the second time. We let this one go.
Last week was a blast. It was great being able to hunt for 6 days straight and have some success. Over the next few weeks I'll be working on editing some video footage to show the hunts we had! Also, FYI, its very difficult getting 5 hounds to pose for a good picture.
My good friend @oreilly1211 had the opportunity at his first bear last week and capitalized. I was there to film the hunt for him so it's all on camera! It was a great hunt and a great week for that matter! Congrats to Jon.
Well the dogs put up another one today. They started rig striking as we were going down a gravel road and after we turned them out it was an hour and a half before it was treed. Small bear but perfect for teaching the dogs. Once it jumped from this tree it treed again 400 yards farther and we pulled the dogs and headed out. Pretty wild to see!
Yesterday was one I won't soon forget. We checked a bait and it wasn't hit but the dogs were rig striking hard. So we turned them out and they started a track and ran it for an hour and a half before losing it. They all split it up and after another 40 minutes Ayla and Cam found it and chased the bear for a little while before baying it up for 30 minutes. Once Ivar got back on the trail he caught up to them and the three of them got it to tree. It was a mean bear on the ground and gave the pups their first swats when they got a little too close. When we got in there the dogs came closer to us and the bear jumped out of the tree and bluff charged us and the dogs, but it treed again. I was so happy seeing my pups in there doing work after I've spent so much time training with them, it was so cool. Once the bear was down we tagged it, field dressed it and brought the dogs out to give them feed and water. We then went back in, caped out the bear and deboned the meat. Then it was a 1.3km pack out through the swamps and off to butcher it went. Thanks to @johnnyelgar for sacrificing his tag I can still hunt for the rest of the week!
