And breathe........ for those of you who juggle being a Mum with a creative job the start of term often heralds the beginning of new work in the studio. But after the din and joyful chaos of the holidays, the sudden silence can be deafening. The empty days daunting. Where to start- how to get back into a rhythm? Pre kids I walked a lot- time was a luxury then! Walks meant time to focus or to let the mind wander freely. I’d often find some object whose colour or form would inspire. With time in the studio cut to 12 hours a week now, taking a 2 hour walk seems indulgent and wasteful. But I think it is actually essential that I make a walk part of the creative routine again; with each step the domestic whirr and to-do lists can be discarded and the mind can instead be deliciously empty, ready for a new idea, before heading to the studio. Here are some images from a stroll in the glorious Dulwich Wood. A wood on the edge of autumn, leaves shouting GREEN, immense trunk relics and a lost dinosaur. So beautiful and inspiring! March on! #inspiredbynature #nature @wild.london #dulwichwoods #creativemummy #walking #walkinthewoods #botanica #green #dinosaur
