The Albatross asks that we consider any wrong we may have done to others, any sort of mistake we've made that has had an impact on someone else, and to make it right. This card reminds me of Justice in the Tarot in that it calls upon us to atone and clean the slate to make a fresh start. Coupled with Departure (8 of Cups), the overarching message is that we may be unable to bring closure to a situation, to find relief from a sense of heaviness, and move on to something better, because we have not atoned. We have not taken the difficult steps necessary to set things back in order so we get a new beginning. Is there something in your past that is weighing on you? Can you think of any ways to right a wrong, to make amends? Even if you can't reverse the mistake, can you learn from it and apply to a different situation and make it better? Or help someone else avoid the same mistake? Sometimes, just an honest acknowledgement and intension to move forward on a better path is all we can do, and that is enough.
